Removing old vinyl trim
Gardner, I doubt that the vinyl trim will come off without serious damage to
the paint. The trim is available at most RV stores and at West Marine. Probably other marine stores too. Steve Anderson 79 FC 35 Poulsbo Wa [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Removing old vinyl trim
The vinyl trim on my '78 is way past end of life. Is there a
preferred method for removing it? I have a heat gun if that will work, but I don't want to damage the paint. I am looking into re-painting, but I don't have that on the imediate list, so I want to keep things looking as good as I can till then. The vinyl trim on the roof looks like dried cracked desert mud. The trim on the sides looks better since I used shoe polish to brighten it up. Another item I am looking for is the rubber insert for the trim arroud the headlight and grille area. The old stuff id dry and has shrunk a bit. Gardner 78FC33 |

Removing old vinyl trim
Gardner,
The stickers, well not too sure.. lots of scraping, and then repaint any damaged areas..?? The front trim is easy. I replaced mine- got it at Toms RV in Brandon, Fl. $5.00 for full roll(I had quite a bit left over) Also saw it at Camping world, different colors. White, Brown, Black, ect.. It is a soft rubber disk that you use with an electric drill. It will remove vinyl without damaging paint. Hope this helps! |

Removing old vinyl trim
Thanks again for the responses. It looks like the 3M vinyl trim
remover is the weapon of choice. I will give it a try. Gardner 78FC33 --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Gardner Yeaw" wrote: > > The vinyl trim on my '78 is way past end of life.
