If there are sparks next to the starter then you need to clean and
reconnect the ground from the starter to the frame on both ends, tom 1982 FC35 Vernon Center,NY At 04:09 AM 7/18/2005 +0000, you wrote: >Hi All Uncle nick here sorry i didnt spell out my problem better.Lets >try again when you turn the key on it clicks seem to have plenty of >battery power-shooting sparks at the starter relay when turning the key >to start.Had a friend check the starter area and he saw sparks when >trying to start.Gotta begin somewhere so where can i get a starter >relay any auto parts place or fabic cat. etc.Any information will be >appreciated.Nick Gougeon proud owner of (Empty Pockets)84 fc coach |

Hi Uncle Nick,
Got Sparks, got voltage from the ignition start circuit. Loose wire?, Loose starter? Where did the sparks originate?, check this first. Before buying a relay, or, starter, have the friend use a screwdriver and short the small connector to the large, if solenoid and starter are good, she should start, ignition on that is. The small connector energizes the relay, the large supplies the starter from the battery. Mine would not start one time, I did this prroceedure. Problem was I "did not" have the shifter in neutral. I just smacked my forehead with the palm of my hand and said, que paso stupido! Nick,
If you are getting sparks at the starter relay, I dare say that you have a loose connection. There should be no sparks at all. Check all your connections for tightness. No an uncommon problem. -I had a similar problem with my PT 40 and found it was nothing more
than a poor strater ground. Blue Bird has the nasty habit of grounding to the frame and not strait back to the battery and the ground lifts after a time. it is a shot in the dark but worth a try Harv-- 84 pT40 In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, George Lowry wrote: > Nick, > > If you are getting sparks at the starter relay, I dare say that you > have a loose connection.
