8V92 cracked exhaust manifold
My exhaust on the driver side has a one inch crack in it. How should
this be repaired and what should it cost? Thanks Dan Williams 88WB38 Jackson, MS |

what cracked it? has nothing to do with how to repair it but everything
to do with how to prevent it. GegofTim&Greg 94ptca --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "maureyroad" wrote: > > My exhaust on the driver side has a one inch crack in it. How should > this be repaired and what should it cost? Thanks > > Dan Williams > 88WB38 > Jackson, MS > |

8V92 cracked exhaust manifold
I have successfully removed and repaired these exhaust manifolds.
This is relativly common on the 8V92. The last one I did cost about $75.00 and a couple of hours of my time. 8V92 cracked exhaust manifold
thats my point. I am on the origional manifold.
it could be the torque sequence. you want to squeeze the manifold out from the center by first tightning the center studs or heat the manifold prior to install. the other cause could be the expanding section too brittle or the exhaust too loose or the motormounts screwed up and stress at torque fails at the manifold. 8V92 cracked exhaust manifold
Dan:
Not familiar with your bird, but I recently discovered the pipe from the turbo to the exhaust had a bad gash. I don't know how it happened, but it was spreading about 1500 degrees into my engine compartment. I've have it replaced and my bird is still in the shop for other issues, so I don't know yet what it cost. If that is what is cracked on yours, I would get it replaced soon because it could present a fire hazard. BTW, I was told a good investment would be a infrared thermometer would be a good investment to check heat in your rad, tires, genny, engine compartment, etc. I got one and that's how I discovered the excess heat and the cracked pipe. |
