M & G Tow Brake

M & G Tow Brake
I would like to set up my F-350 CC Dually to tow behind the Bird.

Does anyone have an M & G Tow Brake?

I like the M&G Tow Brake because it's part of the brake system and on
the F-350 the brakes are not too functioanal without the engine
running. Plus your don't have to store or remove anything to use the
truck. Any thoughts would be helpful.

Any ideas on tow bars? I like the Demco Excali-bar rated at 10,500lbs
or the Blue-Ox/Remco Aventa LX bars rated at 10,000lbs. The truck is
8000lbs unloaded so I'm sure I'll get to max weight without much
effort.

RonM has M&G and that was enough reason for me to chose one. I
hooked it up to the tag service line. called the factory and
purchased a reman unit which was new (I think the factory can not
sell units labeled as new) around $600.?

WHen you hook up brake lights make sure it doesnt trigger a brake
pump or some antilock device and drain the battery or draw amps thru
the plug. I had a bugger of a time with that on a LR

I pull a shortbed Chevy with a 10K blueox. (also a new /factory
reman unit that CurtS found for me)

I have the M&G on an 02 Grand Cherokee and have had very good success
with it.

M & G Tow Brake
Supplemental brake -- M&G is good -- if you don't want to cut into your coach air brake lines, take a look at the SMI products. I have the equivalent of the Stay-in-play duo (I have an earlier product) that's been quite satisfactory. The SMI system has a compressor that creates a vacuum to actuate the toad's power brake system, reducing stress caused by the braking system. It's components now fit under the hood and a small actuator is installed between the pedal and firewall, usually out of sight and out of the way. All I have to do is flip a switch to set the system into run mode. Includes a breakaway switch that sets the toad brakes if it becomes separated from the coach.
I have the Blue-Ox Aventa LX and have been well satisfied with it. However, my toad is only about 3500 lbs. (After lifting the Aventa on and off the receiver a few times, I wish I'd gotten the lighter Aladdin... but I don't have to put it on or take it off the receiver very often.) While the Aventa is supposed to be 42 lbs, once you add a drop receiver (as required for my set up), then it becomes a bit of a handful... (not so much the weight, as the weight distribution).

I have 88 WBWL XXV and chevy suburban recently installed the M&G braking system. I thought after research thar it was the best for many reasons. I works great. I installed the breakaway kit also. I used the roadmaster tow bar the 10k model All terrain model work good also.

Oh, the brake light wiring was a little hassle on the 07 Suburban as I have a moped carrier and wanted to have the light wiring work for the hitch also. Wiring from the coach I used the brake lights on the truck as the ones activated from the coach wiring for brakes running and signals. The suburban does not have a locking steering wheel so no key required in the towed. I suppose if running many nights ther would be drain on the battery but I try to avoid night travelling...Anti lock and other systems do not operate when the key is off, battery drain is/should be minimal of the towed in my situation
