Mystery of the "water in filter" alarm.
I discovered that the light/alarm signal was shorted -- simply
pressing on the panel would set it off. I've clipped the wire bringing in power for now until I figure out exactly what's going on with the signal. (This is the alarm on the panel above the entry door.) I double checked the Racor -- absolutely no water in the bowl -- I drained several ounces out to make sure, but the fuel looks perfectly clean. I haven't gotten under the coach to drain the 'sump' in the main fuel tank. With 290 gallons (or so) in the tank, I don't want to have fuel spraying all over the place. I'll make a check when the fuel is at a much lower level. I don't expect much water in the tank as it's been kept full (as practical), so condensation shouldn't be much of a concern. My best guess is that the alarm is bad ... but we'll see. Pete Masterson aeonix1@... '95 Blue Bird Wanderlodge WBDA 42' El Sobrante, CA [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Mystery of the "water in filter" alarm.
My water in fuel light stays on also. I checked the racor and then drained about
three gallons out the bottom of the fuel tank and found no water, evidently a bad water detector. My tank is full [approx. 300 gals] so repair is impossible now. Mystery of the "water in filter" alarm.
Based on my experience on the older Birds, the "water in the fuel"
light is different than the "water in the filter" alarm. From my experience with Stagecoach (1983 PT40), the water in the fuel light (accompanied by a verbal warning about water in the fuel from the Digitell system - kinda miss that device!) meant there was water in the fuel tank sump that had reached the sensor in the sump. The water in filter alarm meant the racor needed draining based on it's sump sensor. FWIW......
