Cat 3208TA (non ATAAC) ratings
Hello,

Does anyone know exactly the HP (@ RPM) and torque (lb-ft @ RPM) ratings for
the 3208TA (non ATAAC) engines? There are versions rated 250 (don't confuse with
the 3208T version) and 280 HP (presumably at 2600 RPM for both) and maybe even a
300 HP version (2800 RPM).

Blue Bird used the 250 HP version in the 1985 and '86 model years of their
Wanderlodge FC series motorhomes.

Ben: My Blue Box has the original Cat brochure on the ATAAC engine
300HP @2800, 743 lb. ft. of torque @ 1600, 1450 lbs. dry, approved
for RV's up to 36,000 GVW. For all you owners of 250 HP 3208's there is
one caveat: Brochure states: Not recommended for sustained, high
mileage, on-highway use.

That's why you keep an eye on the crank shaft bearings.

Mike Will an oil analysis tell you the bearing condition or do you need to
drop the pan?

Oil analysis is a good thing, keeps an eye on the head gaskets. I'm of the
opinion that by the time analysis shows excess metal, it's too late. It's a
better strategy to physically check the bearings at 100/125k miles. It's an
easy job compared to dealing with a bearing failure.

Helloo Mike, A mutual friend mentioned that you may have owned a 1977 FC31, with
a 534 C.I. gas engine. If you did, would you drop me a line @
gnburke@... .... I have a couple questions concerning the 100 gal.
tank, and the engine. TIA, George Burke, 1977 FC31SB In now warm sunny N.C., at
