Good Mornin on This Fine Day
A quick problem and hopefully some
"solution oriented direction." ( I can spit out those Fancy phrases, but no luck at remebering how to find a fuel blockage) Issue: Cat won't start, has done this every other Spring and in fact was the issue that got me turned on to the unit in the first place. In retrospect I think it might have been An Evil Omen sent by the Demons of The Sticks and Staples crowd. So far Per Bennnie, Checked A/T switch and cleaned cables, replaced any Iffy ( tech term for crap maintenance).Got first lesson in Master Electrical Disconnect.Traced wiring and found and replaced two Thermal O/L's that were not reseting. Proud moment on that Snowy Hill when The 3208 fired, kept running and I made Maiden Bluebird voyage home Started and ran like a sewing macine and only took Three ratchet straps to keep the loose stuff attached until I got home. Going to be a lot nicer to pilot, just as soon as I figure out some heat. Fast forward six months or so. Same Symptoms, same results, after glass replacement completed. Per Mike H., recheckd all earlier areas.Replaced ignition switch and no change, so decided time for a lttle OJT, self taught, In the parking lot. That Racor thing I was hearing folk allude to. 4 tries later am now a Racor Master Tech and cleaned up spilled diesel and drove it home. Fast forward to last week, new deep cycle batteries, Cables and grounds. Yeppers, thats right wont start. Will fire right up with short snort of Ether. ( warning duly noted about evils of that Dastardly Stuff) Racor gage slightly above zero. I think I need to check fuel shut off solenoid and check every component from the fuel pump, to and through ejectors and back to the tank(s)and back to the solenoid via the Racor. I stored the unit with tanks filled and treated with some Truck Stop stabilizer. Think all I should consider doing to fuel system is topping off by hand carying fuel until filled again. One of the tanks is showing empty on the gage. Will consider bestowing Knighthood/ Sainthood, one box of wine at a time, to person/ persons unknown that can help me regulate this problem to the cutesy story area of (The Tale Of The Day I switched from gasoline SOB's to A Bluebird Diesel Puller. All previous experience with diesels was limited to My Backyard Backhoe). My advance apologies If I ramble, but the drugs from The VA have got a brain Fog grip. DrDigger 83FC35 Kansas City Bo |

Sounds like your problem could be as simple as air getting into your
fuel system. Check to make sure filters are tight as a starter. Also check to see if the filters are full of fuel. If not, that could indicate that air is leaking into the system. I'm sure it could be something else also, but that's a good place to start. R.E.
