Backup System

Backup System
I know that the backup system (camera, monitor and/or cable) on the
coach I am getting is bad (very blurry and not useable). It is the
original camera and monitor with the coach.

I have read some of the messages about backup systems others have used,
but most of the discussion seems to be around the older model coaches
that did not have a factory camera, or around the reverse image issue.
Also, I couldn't find information that related specifically to my model
coach or the things I would be looking for in a backup system.

I use the backup camera and want it to work correctly. I have many
options.

1. Monitor is fine and the camera needs to be replaced.

2. Camera is fine and monitor needs to be replaced.

3. Monitor and camera are both worthless and both need to be replaced.

4. If both need to be replaced, replace with new b&w system using
existing wiring.

5. If wiring, camera and monitor need to be replaced, replace the entire
system with a new color system.

There seem to be many different products to consider within and around
all of these options.

My questions are:

1. Is it possible to just replace the b&w camera and monitor with color
using the existing cable? If it depends on the cable, what do I need to
look for in order to determine if the cable can be used with color?

2. Is the cost to upgrade to color worth it (function and resale) even
if the cable has to be replaced?

3. Are there simple steps in determining which component of the system
might be causing problems (blurry, can't really distinguish what the
camera is seeing)...or is this just the nature of systems manufactured
in 1992?

4. I read the disclaimer about high voltage in one of the messages. Is
backup system replacement anything I should even be messing around with?
Is this something I should leave to the professionals?

5. If I decide to do any part of the work myself, is cable replacement
"doable" without having to tear the entire coach apart?

6. What would be a recommended b&w system?

7. What would be a recommended color system?

Backup System
Brian I forgot to mention that the model I bought was the 56 CHNV. Very happy
with it and it does a good job at night which some colour cameras have
difficulty with.
