Pulled the strap to lower the patio awning today and it zipped out of
my hands snaping at the end of it's travel almost taking me with it.

It seems that the torsion? spring has come loose, broken, other?

I called Zip Dee service and was given instructions on how to tension
the spring, that also can be found at their website in the service
area here. http://www.zipdeeinc.com/AdjustSpringTension.html

I can't imagine a spring losing tension and needing re-tensioning, so
I think that it must have broken, or, released on one end or the
other.

It was job to roll it back up, not tightly I might add, two men and
two step ladders.

Any suggestions, thanks.
