WaGu Browsing Performance Issues
Folks,

I haven't noticed any issues on my Android, Ipad, or my PC's, all running the Pale Moon web browser, but I've had two members tell me that they're having slow response or difficulty accessing WaGu. Let me know if you're having issues and what device and web browser you're using. I'll contact GoDaddy with this information to see about improving performance, if indeed we have a performance issue.

For extra credit, you can go to http://www.webpagetest.org and plug in http://www.wanderlodgegurus.com or a specific WaGu page or thread to get some numbers on your performance. Post your test results.

A typical performance test result for me looks like:

RE: WaGu Browsing Performance Issues
I think I know the issue. It's not really a browser loading performance issue it's a connectivity issue and I think it started around February when I renewed our 2 year GoDaddy contract. I saved some money by eliminating our SSL Certificate. On of the best kept secrets at GoDaddy is when you buy an SSL HTTPS connection you're given a static IP address. Well, I just renewed our SSL Certificate (cost some money), but we should have better performance now because we're back to having our own static IP address instead of relying on HTTP header switching in our shared hosting environment. This change may take 24hrs to be put into effect. Stay tuned! Smile

RE: WaGu Browsing Performance Issues
Okay, the certificate is in place and it's associated with WaGu. We now have a static ip address. Let's see if this helps. Smile

No problems to report at my end. All is normal, not slow at all.

RE: WaGu Browsing Performance Issues
It takes a full minute to open a thread. A response took 70 seconds before it kicked out. Trying again.

I went to the solowheel thread, but after two minutes it said the page had become unresponsive. I came back to this page and it took 75 seconds to open the thread. It said "no data received", so I hit the reload button and it came up. This happens every time and is why ylou see me so little on the site. Hope this one loads. The last response took a minute to load, but it did. Here goes.

RE: WaGu Browsing Performance Issues
Thanks everyone. GoDaddy told me the changes could take as long as 72 hours to go into effect.

Ron, what operating system, platform, and browser are you running? Do you tend to see it more on mobile platforms?

Collecting data from http://www.webpagetest.org is useful. It scan tell us if it's a first byte issue. You can ask it to check a thread by giving it the full thread url.

RE: WaGu Browsing Performance Issues
Folks,

Our https certificate is implemented. I also added a redirect so that you'll automatically be redirected over to https://wanderlodgegurus.com, note the s in https. Smile This redirect may take a few minutes to be updated on the GoDaddy end. Once it is I'm hoping those with performance issues can clear their cache and cookies and try again, and if necessary use http://www.webpagetest.org to report back some hard data along with platform, operating system, and browser so I can approach GoDaddy with more specifics. Thanks!

Greg, I'll also optimize the mysql database. Thanks for the suggestion.
