Bill,

I have the Honda 2000 which I always carry. You may want to check size. The Yamaha may work better. The Honda is a little too tall for the storage compartments on our bb. I made a carrier that holds it at a slight angle to meet the clearance without dumping oil or fuel. I wasn't aware of the Yamaha when I got the Honda.

I have to agree, the system we have on our coaches is overkill. I only use the 50 amp powercord, and have two plugs that I can use, one down to 30 amps and one all the way down to 15 amps.

It is all about power management, the manual way.

I have plans to remove all of my 30 amp cabling system as it is not necessary.

I believe that John Finn changedhis system over where he uses the rotary transfer switch even for his inverter system. I willbe doing my system in April hopefully,so I will be interested in how you are doing yours. Tom Warner also did his, and he added another breaker box for the inverter loads.

Chuck -what size of generator did you get, I am thinking of getting a 2000 watt Honda or2400 Yamaha.

Hey Guys,

I guess I was fortunate enough not to have all that extra wiring
in my 78. I only have a 50 amp socket that both my 30 amp & 50 amp
plugs use. I do have a 50-30 amp adapter too. I also created a 30
amp extention cord that I use (when needed) on my 50 amp cable. That
way I can extend the 30 amp reach with a safe size wire.

I'm also added a ProSine 2000 watt charger/inverter and will be
putting in a seperate breaker box OR modifying the existing one, I
have tore into that yet.

As far as generators go, I too purchased a smaller one for boony
docking to charge up the batteries. I purchased a cheap China 1000
watt generator for about $100 and run one of my old 40 amp chargers
on it. It's not really regulated but these old chargers have
transformers on the front end so it is ok. It'll run between 1-1/2 -
2 hours on a gallon of fuel and seems suffiecent and quiet in topping
off my 4 deep cycle batteries.
