Information on what happens to a towing car after its been towed 50,000 miles - Jon - 12-06-2008 08:10 I was just curious of what one might look for if a car has been towed about 50,000 miles? By this I mean of course its been used to run here and there but after that what happens to the suspension and other related gear by being towed. I'm thinking of buying a 2001 Sunbird Pontiac with towing gear on it. It has an automatic and like I said befor its has close to 50,000 miles of towing and driving. Thanks Jon Information on what happens to a towing car after its been towed 50,000 miles - p_a_lazar - 12-06-2008 09:49 Jon, I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty that I have towed aprox 180,000 miles and it is driven about 70,000 miles. We use it regularly. Have the original shocks, on third set of tires. I use the Jeep for off-roading (not extreme) and for driving the sand dunes on both coasts and also beach cruising. Don't mean to sound like a Jeep commercial. I'd say you have to consider the general use and upkeep of the vehicle. With all 4 hubs unlocked, the transfer case in normal, the auto tranny in park, it just rolls merriely along.. Due to an incurable condition, (Gettin Older), I removed the steering wheel lock, so I cant forget to unlock that, and dont have to worry about leaving the keys in the CJ.. Simple is Better !!
