 LXI Recall - David Brady - 03-07-2008 08:29

 Jerry,

Part of the recall is installation of labels in each of the three

front basement bays recommending maximum weight capacities.

Do you know what the recommended capacities are?

 Thanks,

David: If you will check message #31999 that I posted a couple days
ago, there is a more complete explanation of the recall.

 LXI Recall - David Brady - 03-07-2008 11:35

 Ron,

I read your posting #31999 and I see that you mention the new 17000#

axle rating label. What I'm interested in is the additional labels that
 will

be attached to the 3 front storage bays specifying weight limits for
 these

 bays.

 Thanks,

 LXI Recall - ronmarabito2002 - 03-07-2008 14:29

 David:

From what I gather in the notice, the danger occurs when the bays
are not loaded per specifications. I would have to assume, the bay
loading is already specified somewhere. Either in the bays or in the
vehicle manual. After the modifications, the specifications will be
 changed.

 LXI Recall - David Brady - 03-07-2008 14:52

I guess what I was referring to is the statement in the FMCA

magazine to the effect that dealers will afix "new labels stating

the weight limits for each of the three front storage bays". The

official NHTSA recall notice doesn't explicitly mention the cargo

bay weight limits but it does mention a label stating weight limits.

This label may simply say 17000# or it may also spec out the

cargo bay limits. It's unclear. Maybe FMCA has it wrong.

If I move into a 450, I'd like to know if the CCC is greatly reduced

due to the recall. I'm not aware of any pre-recall limitation of the

weight per cargo bay or the distribution of weight, other than not

to exceed the axle rating. Please let me know if this exists.
