My fan clutch is out on my '82 FC and I was wondering if anyone out there
has successfully used electric fans on the radiator. I haven't measured
yet, but it looks like there would be room for two large fans on the back of
the radiator if the original fan was removed.

Been there, done that, don't work. I do have a solution, one complete
electric clutch fan assembly from my 83 FC in very good condition. I'm
changing over to a new Horton air clutch, and adding a charge air cooler
among other things. I paid over $800 for the air clutch.
The set up includes 23" plastic fan and sending unit. It works great, PM me
for pics, I'll take $500 for the whole bolt on deal.

Andy if you do a search in this forum or Wanderlodge you will find a long
thread on the fan clutch topic. As I remember it the final consensus was
that electric fans cannot provide the cooling required.

If you figure out the volume of air that must be moved, the size of fan and
power requirements, it's much easier to install a Horton clutch and make
sure every all components of the cooling system are in correct working
order. The only time my fan comes on is in traffic, pulling a grade below
45mph. I assume that you have the electric clutch like our coach did.

The Horton Clutch is a air actuated clutch. I used it to replace the
electric clutch which had come apart on my BB.
