Thanks Tom:
Going up tomorrow to clean up the bus after 2 trips. I'll yank the bed out and

I have not had the time to find out any information on it Leroy but
if your coach has the same system as mine you have

astro-pure model AP 35
Pure water enterprises model 7550

two very expensive water purification systems installed by bluebird
on both FC and PT models.

Potable water filtration system - Leroy Eckert - 12-01-2006 13:33

Howard:
You have a good point. I remember the RATS broken pipe. I did not hook up
water at RATS. Typically, I am full of water when I pull camp at home base and
run off of the pump. As you do I typically turn on the hose and take a look
before I hook up. I guess you are correct, it ain't a perfect world.

Leroy,
I live in the country and also have unfiltered well water but I have mine
check by the county health dept. regularly. I know I have a safe water source at
home.
When camping I do not know what Joe Blow Campground operator is supplying me.
Remember the water problem at the Rats Rally, was the lines flushed before we
were hooked back up. I unhooked my hose and when it came back on line I turned
on the spigot and muddy wated came out. At the RIV how long had the water been
sitting in the lines when everyone hooked up. In a perfect world everyone would
do the right thing. But the attitude in most cases is don't worry they will be
gone in a day or two.

Just a little story about this water business then I'll be quiet.
I was raised on untreated, unfiltered well water. Over Thanksgiving I returned
to my childhood home to visit with my mom. I drank, bathed in and cooked with
the very same untreated, unfiltered well water that I grew up drinking and my
mom has used for about 68 years. She in 91 now God bless her. Makes it hard to
get excited about filters these days.

Hey Howard:
I think there is a filter back by the bed that BB or Royale installed. At
least that is what my book says. Honestly, I've never paid any attention to it
and do not know what it does, if anything.
I do not spend my idle time worrying about coach water quality because it
should be the same quality as the source unless there is something in that
Camping World garden hose that attaches the coach to the source. The hose is the
only variable I a can identify.
Sometimes marketing techniques can cause people to buy products that are not
needed. If you are attached to a source other than treated water, that's another
story.

That just my theory. Never had any problems in approx 3 years. Hope all is
well in GA

I guess I was asking in some goofy way if you have the same filtration system
in your home? Probably not. I know I don't. I'd bet you wouldn't think twice
about going to Rio for a month, returning and making a cup of coffee out of
house water that had been stagnant in those pipes while you were gone. (assuming
there wasn't a toilet float leak) Most of us use commercial chlorinated water
systems for water. If your lines are clean in the bus I'd bet the water in the
bus is the same quality as in your home. Actually I drink the water that is
pumped through my bus. Haven't had any problems.

Leroy,
It's not only the bugs, it's the other junk in the water.
Something that cleans out chemicals and other other unwanted by-
products of civilization is what I am aiming for.

Potable water filtration system - Tom Warner - 12-01-2006 13:44

Leroy a little bit more information on the bacteriostatic water
purifier in my coach. It filters and purifies the potable water
supply to eliminate tastes odors, and coloration producted by
chlorine, rust, insecticides, detergents, sediment and other foreign
objects. Satisfactory elimination of water borne disease carrying
bacteria is accomplished by a hygenic filter bed which contains
silver ions absorbed on sponge silver metal which is deposited in a
finely divided form on granular activated carbon of high surface
area. An added benefit is that even if the coach is not used for some
time, bacteria will not grow in the water distribution system. The
system requires no maintenance. The filter media will process 75,000
gallons of water before needing replacement. End of information

With this system in our coaches I cant believe we need something else
even after 20 years. WE can fill the coach 750 times before it needs replacing.

I am going to see if I can find more information on it.

Potable water filtration system - one_dusty_hoot - 12-01-2006 13:53

Howard, I'm with you on the RATS water supply. There I was
borrowing water to make coffee. At first I thought my
new coffee maker needed to make a couple pots to be
good. Well, sweetie made 4 pots with that Greorgia swamp
water and all were thown out, phewE!. That got me started
on this filter kick.

Here at home the water is great, really tastes good, but...
a few years ago we got a charcoal filter and started using
the filtered water for drinking, cooking, and making ice.
After ONE year I changed the filter, all the yellow crud,
slime junk on that filter, made me a believer in filtering
water.

Sure it tasted good and looked good too, not as clear as WL
you understand, and thousands of people here drink it, I did
for years without filtering but I won't anymore. My eyes told
me not to put that crud in my body anymore.

everyone hooked up. In a perfect world everyone would do the right
thing. But the attitude in most cases is don't worry they will be
gone in a day or two.

Potable water filtration system - Tom Warner - 12-01-2006 13:56

Howard my manual gives a way to check it. It says "check the smell,
If a faint taste of chlorine is detected it is time for achange. Even
when there is a noticeable taste the bacteria stopping properties
have not been compromised".

I am going to find out more about the filter and what to do about it.

Potable water filtration system - Stephen Birtles - 12-01-2006 15:35

The filters should be changed at least every year maybe the one
containing the silver on the old systems may last a little longer
butafterthat long they ain't worth a nickel and would probaly cause
more harm than good

Potable water filtration system - Stephen Birtles - 12-01-2006 15:35

The filters should be changed at least every year maybe the one
containing the silver on the old systems may last a little longer but
after that long they ain't worth a nickel and would probably cause
more harm than good

Potable water filtration system - Richard Hayden - 12-01-2006 16:04

What do you have the "county health dept." check for? There are many tests.

Leroy,
I live in the country and also have unfiltered well water but I have mine
check by the county health dept.

Hope all is
well in GA

Leroy,
Have you installed a water filtration system on your BB? If so what?
