8V92 Two Stroke & Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel - Curt Sprenger - 07-05-2006 08:00 About October of last year, the Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel topic was addressed here on the forums. The concern was the oil the 8V92 two stroke engine needs when the low sulfur diesel fuel hits the market which is now to I believe September of this year. I called my contact at Detroit Diesel to find out if any changes in oil requirements have been determined by Detroit. He assures me that the API Service (or Classification) CF-2, SAE Viscosity Grade 40 is the oil for the two stroke 8V92. The documentation I received from Detroit shows the oil drain interval at 10,000 miles. My Bluebook states 20,000/yearly. I've been changing oil at about 8K.
