The Price Of New Curtains For The Old 'Bird - orbitalsolutions - 05-06-2006 08:56

Needing new curtains, I phoned an add in the Yellow Pages.

Business advertised draperies, upholstering, flooring, refinishing,
ect. and professional inderior decorating expertise.

I made an appointment. About an hour late, an unusually
dressed "designer" showed up driving a Volkswagen.

Told me I had about 18 yards of material and the job would cost
about $1000.00 US -- I don't know what to think.

Is this too much?

Thanks in advance for the wisdom of your experience.

First, how much for the material (price per yard), how much for the
labor and how much to install? Are they lined drapes like the
original? If it is good material then that appears to be a fair price.

With your designer, 1k might be reasonable considering both
entertainment and the curtains....or you might check Campers World.
Catalog and likely thier on-line site will have what you need in
stock or custom for a much better price, also hardware if needed.

James
For our XV we bought lined panels from J C Penney's and had a local lady who
did sewing to cut and hem them the right height. I think we paid her $75 to
hem the curtains and cut up a bedspread to fit the side bed. They worked
and looked great. LT 90 SP in Eclectic, AL
