CB radio troubleshooting - ttikalsky - 09-09-2005 07:10 I get no sound from the CB. I turn the squelch all the way both ways but still no sound, not even static. When I press the transmit button the power guage moves to the right as I would expect and when I release the button I can hear a "pop" thru the speakers that are closest to the driver and passenger. Also when I switch to "PA" mode nothing happens. The CB is a "President" model AX44. Troy, Waconia MN 1983 FC 33 CB radio troubleshooting - krminyl@... - 09-09-2005 07:20 Troy, A couple things...is there is an external speaker plugged into the external speaker jack at the rear of the radio? If there is, try unplugging it, and see if the radio blows any squelch. If it does, your "Privacy" toggle switch might be in the privacy position (this switch should be in the area of your master a/c toggle switches (most likely above and to the left of the driver's head). Plug the speaker jack back in, open the squelch, and try flipping the "Privacy" switch. This could be the culprit. (Switches in the wrong position usually are) Ralph had a good idea also...you should get some noise from the speaker even without an antenna with the squelch open, but you will get a lot more with an antenna hooked up. If you don't have an antenna, just stick an old wire clothes hanger in the center part of the antenna jack on the radio **Do not transmit with this clothes wire antenna**...you will definitely hurt the radio's transmitter. If the radio is shot, they can be easily found at Radio Shack, or for a really good selection, try Scanner World out of NY. Scannerworld.com I think. Good luck! Fullenwider - 09-09-2005 10:31 Troy: If you have an old antenna laying around, try hooking that up to see if it is your radio or antenna. It sounds like the finals are gone in the radio though. Others on this forum are more versed in CB's/ Ham than I. Ralph At 07:10 PM 9/9/2005 +0000, you wrote: >I get no sound from the CB.
