A few days ago, while having some routine maintenance done at Freightliner of
San Antonio, (formerly Alamo Motorcoach) the Brake Lites spontaneously came on
and stayed on; and also some of the dash instrumentation went out at the same
time; and the only way to put out the brake lites was to pull the fuse in the
outside panel. Shortly thereafter, , the coach wouldn't start. Further
diagnostics determined that the original ECM unit had seen it's better days and
so it was replaced and now it starts and runs normal and of course the brake
lites and dash gauges are now functioning normally. This is a 12 yr. old coach
so I would guess that this was not unusual. We are just so happy that it didn't
happen on the road. The joys of full-timing.
