As I posted the other day I have removed the generator from the coach.
The last couple of days have been clean-up and installing new insulation
Today I attempted to separate the alternator from the engine. I was not
successful. Could not get it separated by more then 1/4 inch. Has anybody done
this - am I missing something? I am reluctent to really
pry hard for fear of breaking the alternator case or bell housing

Art,
I am not sure if you have removed the belts or not. What you have to do is remove the top bolt and then also remove the nut off the bottom pivot bolt that is about 3 or 4 inches long. Then wiggle that pivot bolt out until it disloges from the engine casting. The alternator should just wiggle free at that point. Maybe a slight pry but should not take much effort.
Then putting it back together you reverse the process. So belts on first and then slide your pivot bolt back in and then install your top bolt and tension your belts.
Intuitively you don't want to play with that pivot bolts and belts etc all at once but that is the way you have to do it.
It should go fairly well for you.

Actually if your talking about an alternator on the Perkins engine then disregard my previous post. I thought you were referring to the alternator on the 6V92.
