FYI mainly for the Lone Star Birds:
As all the Lone Star Birds know, things have been dry and burning in Texas. One
of the RV parks that the Lone Star Birds had several of their early rallies at
burned down late yesterday afternoon.
Top of the Hill RV Park in Boerne was caught in a fast moving wildfire that
moved so fast that campers did not have time to move their rigs. It destroyed
seven RVs and five other vehicles, and then gutted the clubhouse, laundry room,
pavilion and bath houses. Local firefighters and water dropping helicopters
saved the rest of the 70 rigs at the park. Several LSB members have used the
park as a stopping point when traversing IH-10. According to the news they plan
to rebuild and power and water still has to be restored, but most campers were
apparently staying put and helping the less fortunate dig through the embers.
Texas needs some rain soon. Everything is tinder box dry and the fires jump the
interstates pretty easily.
Stay safe everyone.
