Should I keep the orginal paint design or should I change it to a more modern
design. I'm having the upper rail reworked with alum as the old was rusted and
not repairable. would like to hear your opinions on this

I can only speak for myself as I have a 91 WL that has a great new and completely different paint scheme and I get many, many complements about how it looks. However, it took away from the distinct BB look, most people don't even recognize it. You can see pictures in the Wanderlodge Forum files under my name.

Over the years I have become especially fond of the early 80's looks with the nice chrome bumpers. IMO, if I had an 82 I'd keep with the same 'style', and maybe just change to updated colors. It is the difference between a 'classic' and a 'resto-mod'.

It’s your coach and the new style paints are attractive, but I vote for the classic Blue Bird paint.

I also like the original paint style (the XXV model excepted, sorry). From a resell standpoint, wanderlodge buyers might shy from a modern design.

Check out this post:

83 FC, similar colors to original yet different enough to look fresh and not 30 years old.

Thanks,
Markus

In the end result, it is only the individual owner's personal opinion that
counts. Some prefer classic originality, but a well done upgrade can give an
older Bird an entirely new personality and a new lease on life.

For another example of a well done upgrade, check out this week's Bird of the
Week on the WanderldogeForum front page at http://www.wanderlodgeforum.org .

We painted our 1973 FC31 in Indian Silver, Light Rose, and Dark Rose, which were
original colors, but for a later model Bird. One suggestion I would have is to
use colors that can be "Touched-Up" from standard "RattleCan" paints.
