Hello All
I have a 1990 wb40 I have a air system in i that allow you to pump up the system
without running the motor
for some reason it will not let build up pressure I here it leaking under the
front wheel area.
I looked in the book and it says it need to get to 65 psi which this pump dose
not it gets about 50 psi this is also the pump that will also allow you to work
the the waist air switches
anyway I hooked up another air pump inline as soon as it hits the 65 psi the air
leek goes away and then I can even fill the air bags
anyway my question is the air pump in the couch is that normal to only get to
50 psi??

Jamie,

My 91 on-board electric air pump builds up to 90psi.

I would assume that the 90 model should be similar, but perhaps someone with a
90 model will respond. I know Steve Gureasko has a 90 but he is traveling
today, headed home from the LSB rally, and may not see your message for a while.

Which air pump do you have that is built in? Perhaps there is a rebuild kit
available. Sounds like it is time for a rebuild.

Jamie,
Fix that air leak, and I bet all will be fine. I had one of the two air dump control valves leaking slightly...the coach would not air up using the on-board compressor. It would build pressure using both the on-board and the engine compressor (engine running of course). I replace the leaking valve and the on-board compressor is again doing its job.

I concur that an air leak can prevent it from airing up. Been there, done that.

Don Bradner

Yes, same pump and same 90psi on the '90.

one more question
should I hear any air at all

Curt Sprenger

With the on-board compressor running, and if you have good hearing, you might hear the air leak. I suggest using soap/water in a spray bottle. Good luck and be careful.

ronmarabito2002

No air should be leaking. It might only be a stuck valve. When you find the
source, try tapping it if it is a valve.

Any chance it is under the dash (parking brake)?
