The Yanmar engine (generator system) start battery is a Centennial 60
month group 26 maintenance free. It is tied in with the 6 coach
batteries. Age is 2003. I removed it today because I thought it was
way beyond time to replace it, thinking it's probable dead. After
sitting on the bench for an hour the battery tests at 13.5n volts.
Darn good. Perhaps it being tied in with the coach batteries has
extended its life due to not working hard when starting the Yanmar?

Hi Curt

7years is a long time for a lead acid battery.

But good weather and the starter motor being in good shape will add to that life.

My gennie battery was in place when we bought Ziggy 7.5 years ago. Don't know
how old it is. The battery just works fine whenever I need it. It's an
Interstate Group 24 no maintenance lead acid. It can be bridged but have never
had to do so.

I have no complaints. My house batteries are 7 years old and are Lifeline AGMs.
Don't expect them to last much longer but will take what I can get.

We are in a very warm climate and don't expect much from batteries,but a good indication of longer lasting batteries has got to be good equipment which relates to good

care.

Likewise,my AGM Lifeline batteries are about the same age as yours and am thinking they will need replacing any time soon,but of course,I have been saying that for 3 years now. I suppose I am lucky.
