Some of you may have seen some of our posts about having our 84FC35SB painted
and modified in Guatemala. You can save enough on the paint job and mechanical
work to pay for the entire trip.

During that adventure we've fallen in love with Central America and expect to
full-time down here indefinitely.

Like all strangers in a strange land, we've had questions and issues.

We looked but there was no resource for asking questions like about vias
extensions.

So we started one.

We've decided to start a Yahoo group that will serve as a resource for
snowbirds, Central American RVers and general travelers.

For the life of us, we can't imagine why anyone would say such a thing.

For the record ... have you personally traveled outside the US (Canada doesn't
count)?

I lived in Guatemala in 2004-05 and returned for the bulk of 2007.

I have lived in Thailand and traveled the Orient.

I lived in Belgium and traveled Europe.

I can say with all confidence that the most dangerous place I have ever visited
is New Orleans, LA.

Antigua Guatemala is as safe as any U.S. city and is one of the most beautiful
places on earth.

And yes, Gary, I have been outside the US.
As a Army chopper pilot, I have been to Europe, Panama Canal, Far East.
Took my sailboat thru the Panama Canal in 76.
Have been to Colon and had to travel with a group to keep from getting robbed.
Have sailed to Belize and had to leave a guard onboard to keep from getting
robbed.
Stopped in Acapulco during the elections in that country and all the locals were
talking "Revolution".
Mexican navy couldn't be trusted to not board your boat and steal what they
wanted.
I could go on, but for me, this is not a pissing contest.
Just my opinion having spent time south of the border.
Discussion closed on my part.

And you survived in a much more dangerous world than today AND I'm betting you
wouldn't give back those memories for anything

Everything you say may be true. In the 60s I wouldn't walk from the subway
station to my High School in Brooklyn, NY alone. Kids I went to school with had
bodies dumped in their street once or twice a week.
