Does anyone have information on the route between Las Vegas and Phoenix? I can
see twists and turns on the map, but I don't have any idea how it would be with
a 40' Bird towing a car.

To keep from having to deal with the dam we took hwy 95 south, crossed over through Laughlin on hwy 68 to I-40, then used hwy 93 south to Phoenix. You will watch your temp guages on the hwy 68 portion, but is a pretty drive.

Both ways are pretty good roads. The map makes 68 look better than it is from
Kingman to Laughlin. Once you cross over the mountain range, the downhill side
is about 13(?) miles of 7% grade, as I recall, with multiple switchbacks. Make
*very* sure you are in a lower gear when you start the downhill side. There is
also a stop light at the very end of the last downhill section.

To me, 93 over the dam is a much easier ride. Yes, there is a downhill to the
dam (downshift again) and one nasty switchback on the way back up the Nevada
side, but it is a unique ride. However, I think the new bridge bypass is
scheduled for August completion, which will hake it a straight shot.

Actually, I mis-interpreted your post. I was thinking Phoenix to Vegas. If you
are going Vegas to Phoenix, then 93 is my absolute first choice. Only that one
downhill switchback to the dam is tight. Unique treat to watch all the tourists
staring at a PT/WB towing a toad across the dam!

We went across the dam with our 97 43" PT, towing a Jeep and had no problems.
Going that way you will get to see the new bridge.

I left vegas at 4am and took the DAM route........no problem with my 90SP36 and
a toad............
