I happened to think about another possibility Kurt. Are you hearing
this after using the front leveling jacks? On the '83-up the jacks will
usually not swing up until the airbags begin to inflate/lift the coach,
often they will swing up fast enough to hit the stop hard and make a
fairly loud "pop" sound when they do.

Jeff, I certainly appreciate your thoughts.

It happens when I set the jacks to retract, before having some air in
the bags. Then I heared a popping in one or two of the bags as the
coach started to lift. This happend only a few times, after that, I
changed the start up procedure. Now when the coach rests on the jacks
I make sure the dump switch is off, I start the engine and let the
air build up and after a few minutes I raise the jacks slowly,
releasing the weight on to the filling bags. This way no mor popping.
I keep the coach inside a garage and will check the issue on our next
outing, which unfortunately will not be until early August.
As allways thank you

Kurt,

I realize that procedure change, sometimes each year but for our '95,
the instructions say to dump the air pressure completely before
lowering the jacks and conversely, to be completely aired up before
retracting the jacks. Trying to find strange sounds can be a problem,
especially since they can be intermittent.

That explains it - mine are straight acting jacks. Well, I tried.

Chet I don't know if this will apply to your coach but my 94 was making
noises until Randy Dupree told me that the foot plate was only held on my
the two springs and that it rotated on the end of the hydraulic shaft. The
shaft has the ball end and the plate has the socket. My socket/ball had
rusted up a bit and everytime I used my jacks the socket/ball combination
made rusted metal grinding together noise including pops, bangs etc.. I
sprayed each socket with lubricant (PB Blaster) and I haven't had these
noises since. Hope this helps.

Thanks Rob, I'll keep that in mind when I get to reworking my jacks. They
are a little further down the list. On my jacks the small cylinder that
extends the jacks pushes against a small bearing and they get all gunked up
from road grim. Need to keep them cleaned and working for a smooth
operating jack.

Thanks Chet,
I am familiar with the sound the jacks make. The noise I am talking
about was like when a newly mounted tire popps in place on the rim.
