On our last trip returning from Maxton via Asheville, we were north on I-77
just before I-81 on a very long, steep grade. The motor had a severe
temperature rise with the lites and buzzer going. I pulled over to let it
cool at fast idle. Someone suggested that using "mode" may have caused it,
so I shut "mode" off. The remainder of the trip home (about 400 miles) was
uneventful until I pulled the last grade of about a half-mile near my house.
The temp shot up again. The outside temp was in the 90's and humid in both
locations.

I have since been able to open the radiator and air panels in the rear --
after snapping off the corroded locks -- and sprayed the radiator and
condensor with the garden hose. The radiator was hidden behind the oil and
transmission coolers. The air is sucked in from the outside and the coolers
looked clean. Radiator is probably clean as well.

When the air conditioner was on, there was no change in hydraulic fan speed.

I noticed on the air condensor side that there was a small box from China
with four wires going into it. I assume this is a thermostat for the two
electric fans. The main red wire -- around a 1/4" o.d. -- was corroded off
the terminal on the box. What is the little box and where do go to replace
it? Does this have anything to do with the overheating and do I have a
high-speed hydraulic fan on the Spartan K-2 chassis for the radiator?

Thanks in advance for your help.
