Hello All
I would like to update ever one on the A/C compressor bracket. After removing
the complete assembly off the engine, I found the bushing was cut .030" under
sized to the brackets. and the hole for the bolt was .030" oversized. I measured
the bracket hole dia. and found that all are the same size and are not egg
shaped.
I had a machinist cut a new bushing of 4130 steel, .004" smaller than dia. of
the bracket holes. He drilled a new hole for the bolt, .004" larger than the
1/2" bolt. I visited our friendly Fastenal store and bought 2- 1/2" id by 1 3/4"
od washers 3/16" thick. I reassembled the system and installed the belts and
tensioned them. Next I tightened the bushing bolt as tight as specified by the
SAE torque manual. To my surprise the belts alignment was perfect.
Hopefully this info will help others on this site with the same issue.
