Yes, you want ERS, one that knows how to deal with big rigs such as the WL. I use Good Sam ERS and have been very satisfied. Not expensive. There are other companies that others on this forum will recommend.

Hi Folks, I am in the process of trying to purchase a 1992 Wanderlodge. It looks beautiful inside and out but I do not know what is under the hood?
My questions are:
1) Should one purchase an Emergency Road Service? If yes, please make a referral.

2) Is there a preferred liability/collision/medical coverage insurer you could recommend?

I did print the checklist and will be going over the Bluebird using it as a guide.

I have no association with the following vendor of Emergency Road Service.

I purchased Good Same Emergency service less than a week before I was in West Texas and had a blowout on my jeep which was in tow. I had a tire man on site within 1 hour and his charge was exactly equal to what I paid for a one year contract of Emergency Road Service through Good Sam's. SO break even deal so far. If I have any other Road Service needs I am ahead of the game. Made a believer out of me.

I have Progressive RV Insurance and have been really satisfied with them. An 18 Wheeler caught the end of my rear bumper and broke off about a foot and a half of the fiber glass bumper. Progressiver paid out $5,000.00 to get it fixed. Only cost me $375.00 deductible.
Again I am not an Insurance broker just an Rv owner who
needed insurance. You can check them out and make your own decision about it.

Generally a good idea. Good Sam ERS (must be a Good Sam member) is solid. So is Coach Net. You can get a good price if you're an FMCA member. Annual cost <$150 (my GS renewal was $129).

AAA has "RV coverage" in some areas, but service is spotty and they don't do a good job with RVs, especially something as large and complex as a Wanderlodge.

Had to use the ERS twice in one day (it was a bad day).

Had a blow out somewhere in Texas. Don't buy through Good Sam, they're overpriced. Buy from the guy by the side of the road. Won't be cheap, but better than the "National Goodyear Good Sam price."

Note: I carry about $1000 cash in the safe when I'm on the road. While most of the time service providers will take a credit card, once in a while you might be caught needing to pay in cash.

First year, I had insurance through a broker that put me with Progressive, I think.

Recently, I got coverage through a broker working with FMCA.

You need to be careful about the coverage you choose -- an RV used full time will need coverage that's both like auto coverage -- but also with aspects of a homeowner's policy.

Some auto policies will cover RVs, but they tend to not cover all the risks you're exposed to -- so it's better to stick with a true RV policy. It pays to shop around, but be sure to compare actual terms, not final price.

TEXAS a few years ago. Good SAM paid the $1300 tow bill after a few calls and
leaving my LAW office phone number for them. It was towed about 120 miles to
Odessa. I am a good Sam life member and have no problems with their Insurance.

FMCA - very cheap. Coach Net has been highly recommended in the past by forum
members. Have not had to use it, but it is comforting to have.

Insurance? I was put with Progressive with one of the large FMCA insurers.
Going with "Progressive Direct" saved me several hundred per year and gives me
direct company agents to talk to if need be. They are big in recreational toys
(RVs, Boats, Cycles) and my Harley is through them also. Coverage and claim
service is very good. They include roadside assistance which was not effective
the one time I needed it before I went with CoachNet. They understand coverage
of personal belongings for RV owners. I just paid their renewal over the
weekend and noticed that they even added pet medical coverage on this last
renewal in the case of an accident.
