DAY8293A@...

I WOULD SAY, IT WOULD JUST THIN OUT THE OIL, AND NOT HURT TOO
MUCH FOR A SHORT WHILE,,, AFTER ALL, IT IS A FORM OF OIL. HOW MUCH DID YOU PUT
IN THERE?? DAY,,,,

DAY8293A@...

AND WE PAY THESE FOLKS 80 - 90 BUCKS AN HOUR TO REPAIR OUR
VEHICLES?????? THAT IS WHY I LIKE TO BE CLOSE ENOUGH TO SEE WHAT THESE FOLKS
ARE DOING
TO MY VEHICLES. ONE SHOP WOULD HAVE DROPPED MY FRIENDS GAS TANK AND CHANGED
HIS IN-TANK FUEL PUMP, IF I HAD NOT BEEN THERE,, IT WAS THE FUEL PRESSURE
REGULATOR THAT WAS BAD.
I GUESS THAT MUCH COULD DAMAGE SOME SEALS, THAT WEREN'T MADE TO HANDLE
THAT BLEND OF THIN, CAUSTIC OILS,,,AFTER ALL, I ADD SOME TRANSMISSION FLUID
TO MY ENGINE AND RUN FOR 5 MINUTES TO HELP DISOLVE AND FLUSH OUT SOME OF THE
GUNK IN MY CAR ENGINES BEFORE I CHANGE THE OIL,,,SO IT ISN'T EXACTLY GOOD FOR A
PURELY THICKER BASED OIL SYSTEM.
I WOULD FLUSH IT OUT, BY CHANGING IT A COUPLE OF TIMES, AFTER RUNNING IT
A LITTLE EACH CHANGE, AND THEN WATCH FOR LEAKS. IF IT WASN'T LEAKING AFTER
THAT, IT MAY BE OK,,, MINE USED 10W-40WT ,,,,GOOD LUCK,,, DAY, IN RAINY JAX
FLA,,,83 PT-40

what happens, if anything, if ATF was added to a hydraulic reservoir in
place of 30 weight oil? ernie- 83pt40 in texas

Hi Ernie,

Our WL manual recommends Dextron II (now III) for the hydralic jacks.

Hi Bill- I guess I should have been a little more specific. On PTs there is a
separate canister for the hydraulics- which is to control the fan motor and
power steering. It seems that the couple I was mentioning had a mechanic put
the Dextron in that canister where it should have been 30 weight oil. My
question- will it hurt that particular hydraulic application?
I would think that the Dextron would be a lot lighter weight oil and it may
not adversley affect that pump. Just in my opinion- which I can be dead wrong.
Ernie- 83PT40- in Texas- Dextron in the jacks, 30 weight in the power steering

Ernie. My information says to use 10W30 in the p/s and fan reservoir.

Thanks, Paul. The folks that had the wrong fluid installed are in the process
of having it drained and new oil added. Ernie-83PT40 in Texas

30w oil.which is what i'd read somewhere.then he found in his manual to use
10w30..i think either one is fine,i ran 30w in my 84 for years,no
problems..randydupree93wb
