A couple days ago the air springs on the drive and front axles were
replaced. Prior to the R&R the front/drive suspension would leak down
within an hour. Now the front stays up. The drive still settles. I've
checked but haven't located any air leaks. Ideas???

Curt, On my Bird I found the 65 psi regulator was leaking. It is a real
bear to get to. It's on top of the passenger air tank back by the
drives. I have yet to tackle the job. It looks like the grey water tank
must come down to get at it. Have you also checked your ride height
adjuster? They tend to leak at the arms.

Curt Sprenger

Thanks Oene. I did check the ride height adjusters and no leaks. I'll
look for the 65 PSI regulator you mentioned.

Drop the suspension when you park, that's my solution.

Mike,
Okay, I'll drop the suspension...and stop trying to eliminate all the
air leaks...maybe. Actually, I'm doing good with the air leaks, have
gone from 4 minute compressor recycling to about 22 minutes. Should be
good to go now.

When I drop the suspension and later reinflate, I hear a loud popping
noise coming from the front airbags----- this leads me to believe
they are getting pinched somehow during deflation? Is this anything
to be concerned?
Thanks for your advise

I don't hear anything like that out of my front suspension. If I did I might
get out the flash light and visually monitor things while an assistant cycles
the switch. I'd want to know if my bags were getting pinched or not. That
couldn't be good.

I have to agree with Mike, not normal at all!

Could be airbag related, could also be the panhard bar bolts/bushings
or trailing-arm bushings seized, which would be dangerous, in fact
any abnormal noise in the front suspension could be a warning of an
unsafe condition.

If you can't identify the source, pay a heavy-truck / bus facility to
check it out, they should be able to diagnose it for under $50.
Fixing it on the other hand, ...
