It shows that clutch as working on a Wanderlodge from 84-93. Wonder if it will
work on earlier FC's?

Thank you everyone for all the great responses to my question.

Believe it or not, the engineer who designed our electric clutch fans in the
early 80s works for a company named Sepac in Elmira, NY. His name is Mike.

I spoke to him in the morning and he asked if he could take a look at my clutch.
I'm going to mail it to him tomorrow. I'll let you all know how it turns out -
I might be wasting my mula.

I keep wondering how many horses a clutch fan robs from our already HP starved
3208 engines.

I was just looking at electric fans.

This fan - http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/html/mon...ctric.html pulls
5,500 CFM of air.

Does anybody know how many CFM the stock electric clutch fan pulled when
engaged? Does 5,500 CFM come close?

I searched old posts and know that many people have already discussed this
topic. I just wonder if some company will develop the technology to provide the
same cooling electrically.

I know when I first bought our FC, all of a sudden the fan kicked in- thought I'd blown the engine. Of course, this was before there was any forum to help out.

Andy - Someone on this list did some home-brew engineering on this question a
while back. As I remember, it would be challenging to get enough electric fan
cooling into the available space.

Electric fans don't save any HP anyway because the alternator also draws engine
HP. There's no free lunch.

If Mike can help you, all the better. Other wise the only option is the Horton
air clutch. Need a Horton fan to go with the new clutch.
Bob Griesel knows the numbers, as he went through the drill this spring.

I agree with Mike.Don't consider an electric fan.If the rest of the cooling system is in good working order the fan will very seldom engage,but when it does you need all the cooling you can get! Replaced my electric with a Horton. I don't think it was the one BB used, but Inland Truck did not have any problem getting one for a 3208. I bought a fan from another place, it is plastic or fiberglass, quieter than the original medal fan and moves a lot more air. I still have the electric fan and clutch, but the plates are worn down to the rivets.

Since most of these electric clutches are probably reaching the end of their
useful lives, it might be good to know if a person could carry a relatively
inexpensive replacement part in anticipation of the electric one giving up the
ghost.

All HD Ford truck stuff is now Sterling. I ordered the clutch from Sterling. As
I remember it was about $500 Canadian, delivered. I used the old fan.
