I use to have lots of hard skin- on my knees and hands, but since I haven't been working, I'm getting soft.

Yeah, its tough to survive in the internet world without having at least a couple of layers of skin!

I think the "3" number is a bit of a stretch. In the 3+ years I've inhabited the various BB owner's lists, I've seen reports of 'birds being "parted out" that at least 4 or 5 havesuccumbedto that fate that have been mentioned online.
However, due to the long life and general ruggedness of the 'birds, I'm sure that the number still in operating condition is in the 95-98% bracket. Assuming that the number of 4000+ Wanderlodges were built, that would leave at least 3800 to 3900 on the road and assume that up to a couple hundred may be "non op" or otherwise out of service.

In the early 1990's factory personel told me that "All but 3" Wanderlodges were still on the road. I'll bet that, even today, the percentage still around is around 98%.

With the 2 part outs at Colaws, Rick archies dismantled coach and the coach Brenda and I looked at 12 years ago that would never get out of the storage lot, thats a few more
And with some of these coaches for sale at ridiculous high prices- of course, those are not on the road.
About 5 years ago, I requested a print out of bird owners that BB had, I never counted those up but that printout is 2 inches thick. Still have that, by the way

Whoever it was has since unsubscribed himself from the forum. Too bad- wish he would have signed his posts as directed in the Home Page when folks join and maybe not wear his feeling too much on the cuff.

I don't know, Ernie. I mean, I get what you're
saying, if someone joins the forum and apparently doesn't at least read a few
posts each day, to notice the biggest topic of the year, then we should get to
slap him around a little bit, make him step up to the plate, and teach him to
at least tune in enough to not make a big gaff on his first post. Give `em a
little tough love. Show `em that they're going need to be thick skinned. Let
`em know that this is a serious, high level, interest group that expects a
certain level of knowledge and involvement from it's members. But I wonder if
it is reasonable to expect all newby's to achieve that right off, and I wonder
if that's the best attitude to have for the forum. Our "description" of the
forum on the home page indicates that we try to welcome members a bit more than
that. I'd be curious to see if the membership numbers are growing or shrinking.
You say this guy just joined a month ago (and quit a day ago), but, first of
all, how would we know that, and, even if we did, we should respond to a huge
gaff or mistake the same way we would if it were the oldest and most seasoned
member. With a little forgiveness. Inclusion. The feeling people look for in a
group. That guy could've become the group's biggest guru/asset. "Another one gone" was an interesting subject name for this thread. What are
those membership numbers over the last few years?

Reads like an Obituary.

Public notice

Birds on the road? I'd go with a lower number 70%

I would agree with the 3% dead birds.

The remaining 27% Broken for whatever reason, most repairable.

You can invert all these numbers by factoring in $5 a gallon Fuel Pandemic !

Plus or minus 33% for personal opinions will effect what is or is not considered
road worthy.

Any ways I'm being called in for surgery on the dash, electrolumiessence on the
fritz, as well as the dash air.

She lived a long and interesting life, she suffered greatly in her twilight
years, and now she is resting peacefully.

Survived by nearly 4000 descendants, Whom have brought untold joy, happiness and
a freedom known only to a lucky few.
