Curt Sprenger

Our frig. stopped cooling. Was working fine yesterday. The display panel displays what is suppose to be working to cool the frig., ie. gas, 110v, 12. The unit does not cool on any of the settings. Ideas? Thanks.

Curt,

Go outside, open the vent area and smell around for an ammonia smell
and/or yellow sticky substance in the tray under the heater area. If
so, it's dead. That's the way ours went, work one day, out the next.

Thanks, Mike. I opened it up this evening. no ammonia smell or sticky substance. Burner area is clean.

Mine did that two years ago, I replaced it with new. HOWEVER after I got the old one out, I hooked it up in my garage and it has been working on electric ever since. I was told that sometimes they get a vapor lock and if you turn them on the side or rotate them 360 degrees that fixes the vapor lock, mine got rotated 360 when if was removed from the coach. Removing from the coach is not a pleasant job, you might see if you can get it out and at least get it on its side inside if it is not dead as Mike described.

Curt,

We had the same issue after some power surge troubles. The frig appeared to work normal on all three power sources, yet, it wouldn't cool. It turned out that the motherboard was fried, and we had to swap it out. It fixed the issue. It was roughly a $400 fix.

Curt,
one test of the mother board is to ;unplug, ;replug ;then run it on
ac ;then check if the boiler was prompted to heat. if no heat right
off, mother board is not asking for heatsource and MB could have
issue or the ignition delay safety device is screwed

the ignition delay or fueling fume savety delay where the detroit
ignition stops the lpg from sparking may do so by just shutting any
heatsource off?? and that may be your problem,,,

if boiler is getting hot and beer is also may be a blockage in the
coils. wont hurt to try and tape a palm sander or small vibrating
machine to the refer for an hour or so to free up some blockage?????

I have an extra motherboard of some sort in the bus I can photo
graph and send to you if it is the replacement needed.

Hi Curt,

If it is the original frig, It is time to replace,
The original frig get confused with the ignition key shut down, & the
timing of when to return to operation and which mode to chose.
Depending on the model # it may need both 12 volts and 120V to
operate on 120 AC. It coold also be more than one problem such as
Electronic board, ignitor on propane and or 12 V supply, and or
ammonia.

Thank you all for your replies.

Currently doing the standard repair/service 24 hour test... re-wired frig. direct with AC (by passing ALL elec. controls). This test will tell if the cooling unit is bad. Should the frig. get very cold in 24 hours then it's the elec. control(s).


The frig. is the original unit from the factory. Agree that it most likely should be replaced, but I'm out here near Bullhead City, AZ. It will take a few days to get a new frig., then to install it will take another day. I had planned to arrive Quartzsite today.


I just might pack food in coolers, buy dry ice, and head down to Quartzsite and check out the service/repair available there.

Good idea, you could also wire 12 volts direct to the DC heater
element.
