thanks for your help on the compressor. i ordered the rebuild kit.

today i changed the oil and filters on the bus motor and serviced the genarator.
i have the
fuel filters for the gen but was afraid of changing them. i have had so many
problems with
small diesel motors after breaking the fuel lines. is there any method of
changing these
filters without having problems starting after the change? thanks.

Mine is a spin on so I remove it, fill the new one with diesel, install it and start the genset. If you have a Racor just be certain you have the new seals, fill it with diesel and you should be good.

When I changed the fuel filter on my PowerTech generator (Kubota diesel engine), I made sure that I filled the spin-on fuel filter to the brim with diesel just before putting it on, trying to spill as little as possible.
The engine started up with only a slightly longer effort than usual -- I presume that it was due to the small amount of air in the fuel line. But then, I didn't know that there might be a problem...

the injectors are cooled with diesel so the pump will put out more
than the fire needs. if it wont start right off after you remount a
filter, crack the lines at the injectors. turn it over untill it
messes up and sprays no air than snug them and start. with it
running, crack one open at a time and tighten it for good.
if the genset is way dry it wont hurt to presoak the fuel line atop
of the injector with a bit of PBblaster overnight. I presoak all
projects so I wont be able to tell you if it helps.

I add a mix of 50/50 diesel/atf in the filter to clean the
injectors. I dont like to put injector cleaner solvents in the tank
in fear that it will clean the tank pushing crap at the filter.

Curt,Tim wants to go 21 but I got community service that day. I
might have him slow down and pick me up roadside on the way out.
