Steve, the stainless inserts wont fit true unless there is a bow from
headlight to headlight. It looks like a poor attempt at a mod. The
ends wing out past headlight lines. may be a good idea to look at how
one fits befor you buy too many. I made several of them for members
with rem stainless. you can make the bow by folding lips 2 inch wider
then trim off the excess with a plasma torch. Lift the torch and add
extra heat mid cut. leaves some slag that requires extra work to
clean.

Bright stainless was too much for my bus colors. I'm thinking it
would be cool to have it brightstainless if there was a chrome bumper
but I stuck with a buff finish stainless insert because it was less
flashy and more complementary. I picked up the stainless rem sheets
for less than $20. and made 12 units before I got the curv looking
good. I notice that the buff finish must have some issues because
there is a slight rusty residu after 2 years (easy to wash off) but
the bright stuff sitting outside has no rust. could be they buff it
up with some steel or the buff material is inferior to my bright
rems.
How much are your inserts???

Stephen,

Are this the cover that replaces the plastic cover between the two
headlights?

Wish I needed some. Any suggestions on polishing or replacing the clear plastic headlight covers on the LXi? I thought about having a couple pieces of tempered glass stuck in there.

Brad,

I took mine off many thousands of miles ago. I also swapped

out the stock high and low beams for 90mm Xenin HID's. One

of my future projects is to take my lexan covers, drill two 90mm

holes in them, bring the XID headlights out 1.5 inches, paint

the back side of the lexan black and reinstall. (wish I had a

pic). This will give the effect of bug eye headlamps jutting

out from a smooth bumper.

David,

You obviously have too much time on your hands. I'm fine with flush headlights behind covers, but I hate the hazy scratches. I've redone corian and can probably redo the covers if I have the right stuff. We're currently considering a trip to Destin/Fort Walton Beach this January. Once I got there, I'd probably have blowing sand.
