The generator on my 2004 M380 won't start from any of the starting switches.
It's worked over the last two years and I started it about two months ago.

The generator battery appears to be OK.

Any ideas?

Gary- is there a fuse on the generator control panel? Run your generator out and see.

Ernie,

Thanks for your quick reply. Yes there are two fuses - and they are both ok.

Gary,
Are you saying the unit turns over, and won't start?

Fuses can look to be fine but a continuity test could prove that wrong. Some time back our gen. would not turn over, the fuse looked good, the continuity test proved that wrong.

I think you could try to jump start it by
pressing the aux battery switch when trying to start the generator. Or you
could hook jumper cables directly to the starter.

Gary:

The generator battery on the M380 is not charged from the 110v shore power. For
the generator to be charged you have to run the generator. If you have not run
it in a couple of months it is likely that the battery is down. I would either
put a battery charger on the generator battery or jump start it. Remember if
using a charger it is a Gel cell battery so use an appropriate charger.

Hi Wayne:

I like the M380 a lot. I have put 58,000 miles on it and have had minimal
problems after we got the original issues ironed out. I think a lot of that was
operator problems rather than coach problems. Like all computer stuff the coach
wants things done in set sequence and if you deviate from the sequence it just
won't work.

Our coach has two slide and both are working fine. In the flat lands we get
about 8.5 mph and driving in the mountains it is about 1 mpg less. There are
some good buys on M380s around. I don't think you would regret it. After the
82FCRB it was quite a change.

If you have any specific questions I would be glad to try to answer them for
you.
