Has anyone modified the engine air intake on the PT roof?
My bus collects leaves on the roof this time of year, and that means
that the forward-facing "ram air" style air intake on the roof ends up
clogged with leaves. Has anyone modified the intake with some sort of
different "mouth"? With the blower and a turbo, I can't imagine there
is any real benefit from any "ram air" effect. I thought of turning it
around so the intake faces the rear, but was concerned about whether
I'd encounter some sort of vaccuum that made it harder to suck air in.
Suggestions?

Mine has a grill on the front. Maybe you could get some stainless mesh and attach it to the front so you wouldn't get debris of any size down in there.

I note that the air intake on the DD Series 60 engines are simply a
grate on the curb-side of the coach above the grate-style side access
door. There is zero ram effect from this arrangement. I believe that
you are correct that with the turbo system, the ram effect is
probably negligible. I would, however, concur that turning the intake
toward the rear might cause a 'negative' (suction) effect that is
undesirable.

I put hardware cloth over the front about 2 inches in front of the scoop so it catches the leaves and when i shut down they fall off
