Hi there,

I am going to add a in-motion satellite dish and wonder if there are
any special tricks to make it work well. I am looking at King Dome
9762-LP from Kingdom2.com for 995.00 which is for a factory
refurbished unit. I talked to Curt and he said that his dome was
mounted to a plate and then the plate was bolted to the roof where
they had welded some nuts on.

When mounting, do you just drill thru roof plate and into bus roof and
seal on top and will that also seal the hole in the bus roof under the
diamond roof plate?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

DO NOT drill through the roof
it is only necessary to drill the tread plate laying on the roof\

you can anchor it there

Clarification. Our satellite dish is mounted to aluminum plates. Those plates are welded to the roof aluminum tread plate.

Will you use an in motion? I have a Motosat that I spent over a
grand repairing. the Factory tech said he can sell me their
infalable, top notch unit refurbished for a grand. My question
was "if it was infalable why were they returned to be repaired????
We dont use it much while driving. I wouldnt by inmo to start
because of need . but your need may differ.

I don’t know that we will use it
much, but we enjoy listening to cnn and when we take the grand kids it will be
nice, but we figure for 400 more than a fixed unit it was worth the extra
money.

It is a tough decision. The compromises with an in-motion unit are significant -
they always work less-well than an open-face unit. Why? Because with satellite,
dish size is important, and in-motion have the smallest dishes of them all.
However, if reception while under-way is an important criteria the compromise
may be worth it.

For me, I decided 3 years ago, which was prior to my BB days, that I would not
buy any more TV items for home or coach that was not HD-compatible. For DirecTV
that would have ruled out in-motion as well, although it is at least technically
possible to do in-motion TV with Dish network.

For in-motion listening Sirius or XM does the job nicely.

Don,

I didn't quite understand the part about Direct TV. Was it the part
about Hi-Def. or that it wouldn't work with the in motion unit.
I had Dish Net in the house and when I tried to get it in the coach
they said no way Jose. I asked Direct for in motion service for the
coach and they answered no problem, then gave me a better deal than
Dish for the house, shop, and coach. $98.00 for 180 channels + 50
movie channels, XM and a bunch of other stuff I never watch or listen
to. I can't tell the difference in reception from base station dish,
house and shop or in-motion,coach, they both work great.
