One thing to keep in mind about a variable speed water pump is that at
very low flow rates it is nearly silent. On a couple of occasions in
my coach the shower was not fully shut off when I was dry camping. I
was alerted to the leak by the sound of the pump cycling.
While in Quartzite this winter I replaced one of my two 3.5 gpm
Sureflow water pumps with a 2.8 gpm Sureflow. The Sureflow rep at the
Quartzite RV show told me I would get more flow out of the 2.8 gpm
pump. I though ?????? He said the 3.5 gpm pump will pump more water
in an open circuit condition. I tried his recommendation. I was
surprised that the water flow with the 2.8 gpm pump was somewhat
greater than 3.5 gpm pump as measured at my shower head. As an added
bonus the 2.8 gpm was decidedly quieter than the 3.5 gpm pump, thanks
to the all rubber mount on the 2.8.
Be aware that if you change pumps you may have some mounting
modification to accommodate the different pump. It took me the better
part of a day to get the pump mount out of my coach so I could drill
two additional holes in the mount.
Good luck in your search.
