Full Version: Locking Fuel Cap

Does anyone lock their fuel tank? I just started parking my coach
someplace besides my house and with $1000 worth of fuel in the tank I
want to lock it.

My fuel cap (the big brass Bluebird one) has a lock on it, but I can't
tell how it is supposed to work. It has a half-moon piece on the back
that turns... but there is nothing for it to grab. Not to mention,
the piece turns a half turn, but to get the key out, you have to turn
it back.

How does yours work? (Also, if there is another post on this, I could
not find it.)

The access door to my filler cap requires a key to open. My FC was
like this, too...I thought all 'Birds were. Is yours not?

Lock your license plate on with caulk if possible. My fuel door has a lock on it. Thieves will take the plate fuel up and drive off and you get the call.

I had to really search to find a locking cap.
Depends on the pipe and thread size.

My license plate just hinges down on springs. (Like some cars used to
have). There is no way to lock it (plus it would be very weak.) Then
behind it is just the filler tube with the fuel cap that has a lock on
it...but doesn't seem to have any way of actually locking against
something.

The brass filler cap is imprinted "Bluebird", so I thought it was
original.
