Anyone have experience with Safe Steer on a 1983 Wanderlodge? I'm
looking for comments about this system. Does it really work?

I can't comment directly on the Safe Steer (brand?), here's my experience.
When I purchased my coach, the Previous Owner had installed a Blue Ox True Center steering system. The coach had a slight pull to the right (very slight) and the 'trim control' didn't seem to change it. After 10,000 plus miles, the steering had deteriorated and I took my coach to Henderson's Line-Up in Grants Pass Oregon for diagnosis and a wheel alignment.
The True Center system was bent and jammed, causing the (by then) somewhat noticeable pull to the right. A worn drag link (tie rod) was also causing excessive play in the steering.
The True Center was removed and I drove the coach to have some other work performed (a couple hundred miles away) and then returned to Grants Pass to complete the job on the steering. (Parts had to be ordered and shipped, hence the delay.)
This gave me the experience of driving the coach without a steering control device. I now know where the "wander" in Wanderlodge comes from (although some of it was surely contributed by the wear in the not-yet-replace drag link).
After the alignment and installation of a Safe-T-Plus Steering Control system with SuperSteer Trim Unit, the coach handling was very significantly improved. 
I note that the True Center system appeared to be rather light weight for the application -- with the Safe-T-Plus parts appearing to be more than twice as substantial (stronger) than the TC system. The trim control unit is very handy as you can relieve the steering pressure caused by road crown or cross winds at the touch of a button. I've put several thousand miles on the coach since the installation and I heartily recommend it.
I also highly recommend Henderson's Line-Up as doing excellent work. If Grants Pass Oregon isn't convenient for you, give Henderson's a call and ask for a referral to a more local dealer who handles the Safe-T-Plus and SuperSteer systems. Henderson's owns the manufacturer of the Safe-T-Plus, so they know who all the other dealers are who handle the product. This is the URL for info on the Safe-T-Plus

Have one on my 84 PT36.
It came with it and since this is our first bird, I don't have any
previous experience with it.
I will say that the bird holds to the lane I put it in. Also doesn't
wander when an 18 wheeler blows past us so seems like a good product.
