As a private pilot of 35 years I am saddened to hear this news. All pilots understand the risks involved with flying and limit those risks as much as possible. Our family will submit prayers for their family. If we can help in any way please let us know.

For those who might be interested.....Dean Carson was flying a Cirrus airplane, known as a performance composite airplane, and considered safe, reliable, and technologically advanced. Our thoughts are with his friends and family....

By RICHARD BROOKS and CINDY MARTINEZ RHODES The Press-Enterprise Riverside area businessman Dean William Carson's family and his big "fixer-upper" home at Big Bear Lake were his pride and joy. So much so that he commuted by air daily, making the short 40-mile flight from Rubidoux to the San Bernardino Mountains city. Late Tuesday, Carson, 53, died when his single engine plane crashed near an unmanned fire lookout tower on Butler Peak, his family said. The wreckage was found Wednesday morning. Carson, with his brother Dale, owned Carson Capital Corp. of Murrieta. A third-generation bus industry veteran, Dean Carson also was president of Transit Sales International and Shuttle Bus Leasing of Riverside. An experienced pilot, Carson flew daily out of Flabob Airport in Rubidoux. Family spokesman Macy Neshati said he was supposed to meet with contractors today to discuss work on his mountain home. "The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) will have to do a full investigation because we don't know if it was weather, health or mechanical," Neshati said. "The weather was calm, there were no storms. It was just basically a routine commute for him. For him to end up on the side of a mountain like that is unusual." It's Tax Time!
