My '85 PT36 rides 4 to 6 inches higher in the rear than it should.
This is on both sides. That would seem to eliminate the levelers,
unless they both have the same problem.
The suspension takes about a day to bleed down. The suspension dump
works normally.
Any idea of what could be the problem?

The reason I say its high is because of the large clearence between
the tire top and the top of the wheel opening or wheel well, 5 or 6
inches. The front is normal.

Art,
That sounds normal to me with the tag aired up. As I recall, the
early 80s all had a little bit of a rake to them (the rear is higher
than the front) with suspension fully aired up. You need to look in
your Blue Box for the ride height specs on your year/model and where
to measure it at.
