Greetings:

The problem began during this winter in 12 DF temperatures, and has
worsened until now the airstep on my 1985 PT40 has failed: air leaks
constantly from the controller and the main cylinder, and the step
does not retract. Are repair kits (elastomer seals, for example)
available to rebuild the three cylinders? Are NOS or other
replacement parts available?

The three assemblies are marked...

Hi Mike,

The replacement cylinders can be had at Grainger (take the
originals with you and they can size them up), but the small locking
cylinder was a custom built piece for Bluebird from Clippard. You can
order a small cylinder from Grainger too, but it will have a threaded
end and you'll have to grind it down to a smooth point. As mentioned,
Stephen has the switches and controller components.

Greetings all:

I have obtained replacement parts to repair my ailing airstep, but
none are the same as the originals, leaving me with some questions.
The new relay/control assembly has all black wires, but the two
solenoids are separate, so it is easy to see which wire goes to which
solenoid. On the original control, all the wires emerge from one end.
The hot wires from the coach are red and yellow, but I can't tell
which should go where on the new controller. Any help?

What is recommended for replacement air lines?

The solenoid is not polarity protected ground one wire from each end
and connect the red and yellow to the two remaining wires one at each end
if the step acts funky just swap the red and yellow
