Befor I called the dealer "Big Bob" This is not thier name but untill
they decide not to give me my deposit back I will not name them.

On ebay the used RV dealer sells used RVs that they can not if the
person sees/smells/inspects.

RV hasn't Had much of anything repaired in atleast 15 years.
Some repairs=Total rehab
After the dealer required a deposit he thought he had me. I took the
Grayhound 400 miles to see the BB. I had 4 requirements.
1. It had to have good tire ruber so I could make it home safely and
hopefully go on a couple trips.
- Tires have not been replaced in many years. Rims were not only
rusting but spalding. The metal was coming off in layers.
2. A minimal amout of mold was to be detected.
- The porouse wood of an RV holds mold once there is a leak. Every
window had no seal whatsoever. The tracks for the window were filled
with moldy frozen mush and the snow from that day was sitting in the
RV near each window. Dealer pretended to check the locks on the
windows. That was funny. This has been leaking for years and years. I
would fear the frame may even be damaged. Maybe not.
3. General damage had to be at a minimal.
- The Generator did not look like the picture. It looked like a
dead cat in a rusty hole. The back window of the buss was broken and
the dealer said he thought that was the film on the window. The back
of the BB with broken glued together taillights, chrome coming off
the bumper in a large sheet, has been used to stop this BB many
times. The dealer made sure not to put this in the picture.

After I said I did not want it because it was way to much for me to
handle he said 3 things.
"By the time we get them they are trash heaps" and "we put the ones
we can not sell on the internet" and We will only refund you the
difference of the deposit and what we end up selling it for.
Translated=You will not see a dime because I dought we can sell it
now that Ebay did not even work for this RV.

If you have lots of time and atleast 23k This may be a good buy at $1-
2k. The engine seamed to run well. I didn't dare to look in on it. :-)

Chris, There is no question the ad is misrepresenting the condition
of the coach. You might complain to eBay and see if that gets you
some place. You must admit however that you didn't do your home work
on this. We all start someplace and most often learn the hard way.
Most of us would have similar stories to tell. Perhaps not on a
vehicle but few of us mortals don't get taken a time or two. I would
suggest you do what you can within reason to get your deposit back
and then just write it off as the cost of education. By the way the
tactics are not new. "Horse trading" has been in practice for
hundreds of years. Don't let it get you down. You can still come
out the winner in the end on this. I don't know how much money you
are out but I bet the vast majority of us have wasted or lost similar
funds on faulty repairs of similar. At least its not sitting in your
drive with you having to look at it everyday as a reminder. When you
get over this you may look back and consider yourself lucky that it
wasn't in just a little better shape and you would have closed the
deal only to be in MUCH worse off then you are now.

When I bought mine I just drove out to see it with no deposit or anything.

If it had sold before I got there I would have felt bad, but nowhere near as bad as I would feel letting a dishonest seller keep my deposit money.

I can tolerate my own suffering as long as someone else isn't benefiting from it Smile

Thanks John,
I am persuing this but do know I will make it a lesson. My mom tells
me I trust people (too much) and that is a plus but I do feel the
pain now and then. I do like to share and this is why I wrote this. I
figure maybe someone else may get to read it and not be taken. Then
again maybe not. :-)
I do look forward to the day I have the RV that will allow me to go
on the vacation I have not been able to do since I met my wife 7
years ago.

Chris, The way I read it, BigBobs description of the bus parellels
your view description. Sometimes a jovial salesman additude is a
tactic used to hide revelation of the facts while stating them in a
joke. Then,, sometimes we overlook the obvious because we want to
believe 'someting is what it is not'.

I agree with JohnH and think you should call it tuition. I just
dont think the only lesson to learn was to 'not trust a
dealer'. 'If its too good to be true it is not true' and; 'you get
what you pay' for are common lesson results for these experiences.
Both are so wrong and their practice limit your exposure to a good
deal. your fault here was lack of research, no back out plan and
over ambition. In the future drop the sellers phone number or
unique name in a google search and learn. I bet doing this search
now will prove the value of such a practice.

I buy used construction equipment and set deposit terms with the
seller on the phone. I never post any more than a paypal $100.00
nonrefundable option/deposit towards the purchase and always respond
onsite with my option within 48hours. If someone wont wait 48hours
to close the deal, they have little confidence in their product.

dont give up on getting the deposit back. Research that too and take
the stance that future sale at a value = to or in excess of the
contract you backed out of has nothing to do with the
misrepresentation that cause you to make the deposit.
