Thanks to everyone for their input. I have replaced both alternators
with new ones. When I start the bus, I get about 14.2 on the dc volt
meter on the dash. I initially get about 100 amps on the ampmeter on
the dash but drops off slowly to almost 0 in 3 to 4 seconds. Any
ideas? All information is greatly appreciated.

Gus. That can be normal with good batteries that are fully charged. Try turning the heaters on to put a load on the system. That should put a load on the batteries and cause the alternators toincrease output.

Just this Morning at Amicalola Falls, GA in the mountains with temps at 29 degrees my amp gauge registered a draw of 150 amps on cold start, and dropped back to 50 amps where it runs normally in about 5 minutes. That sounds normal to me.

Thanks for all the input. I put a load on the system as Paul
suggested by turning on the heaters, all the lights, and the dash AC.
The meter showed a little over 50 amps.

It's on to my next fix.
