Hello Group!

It has been about three weeks since our new to us '79 'lodge made its
way to its new home. The starter issue is being discussed on another
thread. This one will be just an update on what else is going on.

Since this unit is a twin bed model, we decided to replace the funky
matresses. Those have been ordered and as of yet, have not arrived.
The new toilet showed up and has been installed. Replacing the toilet
was more cost effective than rebuilding and reinstalling the old one.

The ceiling shrouds for the roof A/C units were removed, repaired where
necessaryand cleaned. I reinstalled those this morning, after cleaning
the interior of the units themselves. I have the forward roof shroud
removed and will be repairing that as soon as I come up with a repair
that will work. For now, that's a work in progress. I looked into a
replacement shroud. We're not paying $360 for one of those.

Next up is replacing the refrigerator. We'll be shopping for one soon.
Once that is accomplished, I'll start pulling the Suburban furnaces out
of their respective hiding places. I know that at least two of the
three need to be overhauled.

The list of lights and other low voltage gizmos that don't work properly
is long. But on the whole, I can understand why these coaches are so
desireable. I'll keep you posted and will ask questions when I get
stumped.

Enjoy the "journey" of "fixin" your "new" bird. I owned a 77FC33
and later a 80FC31 and thoroughly enjoyed "fixin" both of them....
you will never be completely finished doin some fixen but it was
great fun for me and what a beautiful, solid, well built product you
have in those old birds. They were really built!
Although we like our 90SP36, either of those old birds would have
been ok for me to keep. I really liked the 80FC31 but 77- early 80
FC's were nearly the same. Let me know if u ever get all the lites
working..I never did.....a couple were always out.....that way, I
always had something to do. Good luck with your "new" bird. You
will love it. Make sure u ask questions on this Forum. Everyone is
here to help.

Bruce,
When you say 'Forward roof shroud' are you referring to the AC
cover? I used fiberglass cloth and resin to fix mine up. They were
cracked around the fastening bolts and broken along the rear lower
side. I just roughed up the interior surface and applied the cloth
and resin. I also used a wooden dowel wraped in fiberglass to
reinforce the thin lower part at the rear.
