Rosemary, the waterheater has two water lines attached. One lets
cold water into the tank and one delivers hot water out. The line
that lets water into the tank should have a valve that you can turn
to shut off pressure in the tank (clockwise). You may have to
follow the line back a bit.

I've had a bunch of RV's and for the most part they use non standard
fittings so even at Lowe's it may be a bit of a challenge to get
accomplished what you want to do. If you are lucky you can get some
plastic tubing and some hose clamps and make up your own by pass. The
trick will be getting something you can use to make the connections.
It would be very helpful if you can take a piece of what you are
working with to the store so that you can see what will work. You may
end up having to get a couple plastic pieces which you will have
modify (read grind into shape. I've been there and non that a time
or two. It can be frustrating. The fellows at Lowe's are usually
very helpful but take a piece of the plastic pipe with you if you can.
